TAKING MEASUREMENTS FROM THE BODY

To take measurements directly on your body you need the help of another person.
The measures must be taken precisely and without tolerance.

Chest

Measure the circumference of the chest by placing the meter under the armpits at chest height while maintaining a straight position with the arms down along the hips. Make sure the tape measure is aligned horizontally.

Waistline

Measure the waist circumference at navel height at the widest point. Make sure that the trousers or belt do not interfere with the waist measurement.

Basin – Hips

Measure the circumference of the pelvis in the middle of the buttocks while keeping the feet together.

Shirt sleeve

Measure the length of the sleeve by placing the tape measure on the shoulder bone and sliding it to the wrist bone at the hand attachment. During the measurement, keep your arm bent at 90 degrees and run the tape measure along the outside of your arm through your elbow. Make sure the tape measure remains in this position.

Biceps

Measure the circumference of the biceps keeping the arm at 90 degrees and the muscle relaxed.

Wrist

Measure the circumference of the wrist at the height of the bone. Make sure you take the precise measurement close to the body. Add in the notes if you usually wear your watch and on which wrist.

Shoulders

Locate the most protruding bone in the shoulder and measure from shoulder to shoulder following the curvature of the back.

Length behind

Take the length measurement by placing the tape where the neck strap ends and slide the tape to the end of the buttocks. Make sure that the tape adheres well to the body during the measurement by pressing down on the centre of the back to keep it attached to the body.

Neck

Measure the circumference of the neck by sliding the meter around it. Make sure that the distance of the tip of a finger remains between the metre and the neck so that the collar is not too tight.

TAKING MEASUREMENTS FROM A SHIRT

To take measurements from a shirt, place it on a flat surface and get a centimetre.

Chest

Button up your shirt and place the tape measure from one end to the other trying to stay 3 centimetres under the armpit.

Waistline

Button the shirt and place the tape measure from one end to the other, keeping it between the fourth and fifth button.

Basin – Hips

Button the shirt and place the tape measure from one end to the other on the bottom of the shirt. The tape measure must remain just below the last button 1.5 cm from the side seam of the hips.

Shirt sleeve

Spread the shirt and measure the sleeve from the shoulder seam to the bottom, including the wrist.

Biceps

Stretch the shirt and measure the biceps by placing the tape measure on the top of the sleeve.

Wrist

Stretch the cuff and measure the width of the wrist by positioning the centimetre from one end to the other in its entirety.

Shoulders

Button up your shirt and place it face down. Place the tape from one end to the other of the shoulders parallel to the yoke seam.

Length

It measures the back length of the shirt from the neck to the bottom.

Neck

Spread the collar of the shirt wide open measuring the length between the centre of the buttonhole and the centre of the buttonhole.
